Seventh Place Finish for Women's Golf
Anna Ausanio led Central on the last day of the Tignanelli Towson Invitational.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team secured a seventh place finish of 18 teams at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational. Central (324/330/654) shot 78 strokes over par for the tournament marking down a 330 on Monday.
The two-day tournament was held at Towson Golf and Country Club located in Phoenix, MD, a par-72 course playing 6,162 yards. Round one was held on Sunday, September 9th with the second and final round of the tournament being held on Monday, September 10th.
St. John's (305/306/611) claimed the tournament championship at 35 strokes over par. Placing as the event's runner up was defending tournament champion Old Dominion (312/304/616) at 40 strokes over par. William & Mary (312/314/626), Delaware (309/325/634), and Hartford (329/315/644) rounded out the top-five.
Central Connecticut dropped a position on the leader board after the final round but finished ahead of Northeast Conference rivals Fairleigh Dickinson (333/323/656), LIU Brooklyn (325/333/658), Quinnipiac (342/338/680), and Mount St. Mary's (342/348/690).
Leading the pack for the Blue Devils was senior Anna Ausanio (76/78/154) who finished the tournament tied for eighth on the individual leader board. Ausanio carded her best round of the tournament on Sunday after posting a 76 which she followed with a 78 on Monday. The senior finished just four strokes off of the tournament's individual champion Elizabeth Haycock (75/75/150) of Old Dominion.
First-year Blue Devil freshman Sarah Boden (80/84/164) finished tied for 35th place in her debut for Central Connecticut. Senior Stephanie Bednar (81/85/166) tied for 45th place while sophomore Albrianna Farnum (87/83/170) finished tied for 55th and junior Elisabeth Beloin (89/87/176) tied for 67th.
Central Connecticut will be back in action on September 17th at the St. John's Invitational.
