Men's Cross Country Selected Seventh in NEC Poll

The Central Connecticut men's cross country team was picked to finish seventh in the preseason NEC coaches' poll, released this afternoon. The Blue Devils finished eighth in last season's Northeast Conference Championships and are led by junior Ry Sanderson.

Two-time defending champion Quinnipiac received eight of the 11 first place votes and was tabbed as the favorite to take home the NEC title in 2008. The Bobcats are in search of their fourth championship in the past five years. Monmouth, Sacred Heart and Mount St. Mary's each received one first place vote and finished second, third and fourth, respectively. St. Francis (PA) and Wagner edged out CCSU to take the five and six spots. The Blue Devils were chosen ahead of Robert Morris, Fairleigh Dickinson, Long Island and St. Francis (NY) who rounded out the 11 team poll.
