Junior Ry Sanderson Places First at 20th Annual Blue Devil Cross Country Invitational

Sanderson placed first for the second straight season in
Friday's Blue Devil Invitational held at Stanley Quarter Park in
New Britain. Sanderson and his teammates finished in second place
in the four-team meet, behind Holy Cross. Holy Cross also won the
women's race on Friday. The meet was moved up one day due to the
impending storm on Saturday.
Sanderson's top finish (26:30) led the Blue Devils to a second
place finish in the men's 8K race at Stanley Park. Holy Cross
finished first in the men's race with 30 points followed by CCSU
with 48, Northeastern with 60 and the University of New Haven with
95. Sophomore Rob Weston finished eighth (28:21) in the race for
the Blue Devils followed by freshman Dan Watson in 10th (28:28) and
freshman Sam Alexander in 11th (28:31).
The fifth scoring runner for CCSU was freshman Jeremy Schmid who
finished 18th with a time of 28:41. Sophomore Anthony
Marceau finished in 19th place with a time of 28:21 and
freshman Kevin Tiernan was 21st with a time of 28:52.
A trio of freshmen finished 28th, 29th and 30th for CCSU to help
pace the second place team. Anthony Gonsalves (29:29), Eric
Normandin (29:30) and Tim Poulin (29:31) all finished with two
seconds of each other for the Blue Devils.
Holy Cross won the women's 5K race. For complete women's results
