Hunt Leads Blue Devils to Second Place at CCSU Mini Meet

Freshman Craig Hunt was the top finisher for the Blue Devils for the first time in his career, as the Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team placed second out of 11 teams at the CCSU Mini Meet on Saturday morning. Hunt took fourth place overall, crossing the line in 15:19.08 on the five kilometer course at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain.

Central recorded 71 points, finishing 10 points ahead of Northeast Conference opponent Quinnipiac, who took third. Providence won the meet, placing five runners in the top 14 and scoring 33 points overall. Wagner and Long Island, the only other conference opponents at the competition, took fifth (126 points) and ninth (238 points) respectively. The Friars' Michael Anderson won the meet in a time of 15:09.13.

Sophomore Sam Alexander was the second best finisher for the Blue Devils, taking seventh in a time of 15:25.98, while sophomore Jeremy Schmid was the next Central runner to cross the line, placing 12th in 15:31.90. Freshman Josh Trares and sophomore Kevin Tiernan rounded out the scorers for CCSU. Trares placed 18th in 15:41.81, while Tiernan took 30th in a time of 15:53.10.

Central will next head to the NEC Championships at Quinnipiac next Saturday, October 31.
