The Central Connecticut State University men's cross country team finished its 2009 campaign at the IC4A Championships University Race on Saturday in Bronx, NY. The Blue Devils placed ninth out of 24 teams in competition at Van Cortlandt Park. Sophomore Sam Alexander was the top finisher for CCSU, placing 16th overall in a time of 26:19.2 on the eight kilometer course.
The Blue Devils totaled 258 points on the day to place ninth. Temple won the meet with a score of 70. NJIT's Christian Baumbach won the individual championship with a time of 25:36.8.
Freshman Craig Hunt was the second CCSU harrier to cross the line on Saturday, placing 24th in a time of 26:34.9. Freshman Josh Trares, sophomore Dan Watson and junior Robert Weston rounded out the scorers for the Blue Devils. Trares took 47th in 27:10.2, while Watson and Weston placed 82nd and 97th in 27:38.7 and 27:52.4, respectively.
