
Head men's and women's cross country and track head coach Eric
Blake continued his summer of success on Sunday, winning the
2010 Mount Ascutney Mountain Challenge in Windsor, VT. Blake set a
course record in the race with a time of 28:16 for the 3.7 mile
course. The paved course ascends 2300 feet from start to finish
and is entirely uphill. Blake's time was almost two minutes ahead
of the second place finisher.
Race Details
Last week Blake was named the head coach of both the men's and women's cross
country and track programs for the Blue Devils. He served as
the men's coach last season and was named the 2009 Northeast
Conference Coach of the Year after the Blue Devils won the men's
cross country title.
Blake is currently a member of the U.S. Mountain Racing Team. He
recently finished second in the Mount Washington Road Race, his fifth two-two
finish in the last six years. His finish qualifies him as a member
of Team USA at the World Mountain
Running Championships in Slovenia on Sept. 5. He recently finished sixth at the Litchfield Hills Road Race
on June 13 in a tune-up race for Mount Washington. He posted a
time of 35:49 on the 7.04 mile race.
