Blue Devil Men Finish Fourth, Jeremy Schmid takes fifth

The Central Connecticut men's cross country team took fourth place at the 22nd annual Blue Devil Invitational. Led by strong performances by Jeremy Schmid, Kevin Tiernan, and Rob Weston in the 8K.

The Providence team won the men's race to complete the sweep of the day for the Friars, who also took the women's race. They were lead by Matt Terry, Eric Malnati, and Francis Hernandez who took the top three places. Terry and Malnati were the only two runners to go under 26 minutes in the race.

Junior Jeremy Schmid led the Blue Devils placing fifth with a time of 26:42. Teammates Kevin Tiernan and Rob Weston finished 12th and 18th respectively with times of 27:03 and 27:09. The Blue Devils had their top five runners all finish in the top 25, with Anthony Gonsalves and Chris Rosenberg finishing 21st and 22nd.

The Blue Devils will return to action next weekend at the Hartford Riverfront Cross Country Festival, hosted by the University of Hartford.
