Men's Cross Country Wins Ted Owen Invitational
The host Blue Devils were victorious at the eighth annual Ted Owen Invitational, winning by one point over Northeastern University. Central was led by Junior Sam Alexander and Senior Ry Sanderson who took second and third place. Sophomore's Craig Hunt and Jon Krell also contributed top ten finishes for the Blue Devils.
Eric Jenkins of Northeastern won the 8K race in 25:22. He was followed by Alexander and Sanderson who both finished in 25:53, with Alexander just beating his teammate. Hunt was the next Blue Devil to cross the line finishing fifth with a time of 26:36. Central's next man to finish was Krell who ran 25:51 to place seventh. Senior Robert Weston finished off the scoring for the Blue Devils with a 12th place finish in a time of 27:22.
Northeastern runners placed first, fourth, sixth, eighth, and 11th to total 30 points. The Blue Devils totaled 29 points taking second, third, fifth, seventh, and 12th places to earn the victory. Central and Northeastern ran away from the rest of the field taking all but two of the top 12 spots.
The Blue Devils will look to continue their strong season when they travel to the New England Championships for their next meet on October 9th.
