Liz Stich is back for her third season as an assistant on the Central Connecticut State University women’s basketball coaching staff.  Head coach Beryl Piper added Stich to her coaching staff for the 2008-09 season.

A University of Hartford graduate, Stich spent the season before arriving in New Britain at Longwood University in Farmville, VA. Her responsibilities at CCSU include film exchange, scouting, recruiting and player development.

“It is great to have a person like Liz on board,” Piper said. “Her experiences, both as a player and coach, will be extremely beneficial to our mission. Our staff looks forward to her ideas and a fresh perspective.”

A native of New Hartford, CT, Stich came to New Britain after spending one season on Kristin Caruso’s staff at Longwood. She served as the second assistant, assisting in recruiting, scouting and player development.

Stich played for Jennifer Rizzotti from 2001-05 and was a student assistant coach during the 2005-06 season. The Hawks made NCAA appearances three times - 2002, 2005 and 2006 - during her five seasons at Hartford. She was a four-year letterwinner, two-year starter and captained the team as a senior. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 2006, Stich spent the 2006-07 season working as a civil engineer.

Stich attended St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol, graduating as the all-time leading scorer. She captained the 2001 team to the Class S State Championship and was a three-time USA Today Honorable Mention All-American and a two-time Street & Smith Honorable Mention All-American.
