Cassie Novak starts her third season as an assistant coach for Central Connecticut. The 2006 University of Connecticut graduate interned for the Blue Devils for the second half of the 2005-06 season. In 2006-07 and 2007-08, Novak served as CCSU’s top assistant. In 2008-09, she will be volunteering for the Blue Devils.
Novak ended a standout career with the Huskies in 2005. The team’s most valuable swimmer in 2001, Novak captained the Huskies as a senior while also participating in the U.S. Open from 2003-05. A four-year member of the team, the Cheshire native also won the UConn Club Outstanding Student-Athlete Award in 2005.
Prior to competing for UConn, Novak was a four-time high school All-American. She was also a Senior National qualifier and a YMCA National Champion.
In addition to her duties with Central, Novak serves as an assistant coach for the SoNoCo Swim Club. She has also worked as an assistant for the Cheshire YMCA Water Devils and as a swim instructor at the Southington YMCA and University Aquatic Club.
“Cassie’s extensive national swimming background will significantly help the Central Connecticut swimming and diving program in all aspects of training, competition and recruiting,” Ball said.
