Bio
Michael Trueworthy enters his second season as a diving coach at
CCSU coming off of a successful year with the Divers of the CCSU
Swimming and Diving Program. At the Conference Championships
Trueworthy helped lead the divers to two 1st, 3rd, and 5th place
finishes. He was also honored to earn the distinction as
“Diving Coach of the Year” as selected by his peer
coaches of the Northeast Conference for the 2012-2013 season.
“I don’t think we could have ended last year on a
better note and I believe we’ll be even stronger this
year”, Trueworthy said. “We’ve got strong
leadership now with our returning divers and some great talent with
the three new divers coming on board. I’m continuing to
recruit for the future of the program and want to see us compete at
the NCAA Division 1 Zone level, at least”.
Prior to Central, Trueworthy coached the club team (UAC) at his
alma mater, the University of Connecticut, where he was a diver. As
a student athlete at UCONN, Trueworthy was an NCAA Regional
Qualifier and also held the event pool record at Wolff-Zackin
Natatorium. A Connecticut native, he still currently holds
the high school diving record at E.O. Smith High School.
In his personal and other professional world, Trueworthy graduated
from the Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA in
1998, and the University of Connecticut in 1999 with a degree in
Political Science. For the past 14 years, he has involved
himself in civic life in the City of New Britain and around the
state in a variety of capacities. He met his wife of 12 years
and fellow CCSU diving coach, Elena, while at UCONN. They currently
reside in New Britain, CT with their two small children.
