Men's Golf Moves Up One Spot to Finish Fifth at Turning Stone Intercollegiate
The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot its best round of the tournament, carding a team score of 300 in the final round, to finish in fifth place at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate on Monday. The Blue Devils moved up one spot in the final standings, finishing behind Purdue, Missouri, Bowling Green and UConn. Justin Hughes shot a final round 73 to finish in a tie for 15th place to lead the Blue Devils.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot its best round of
the tournament, carding a team score of 300 in the final round, to
finish in fifth place at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate on
Monday. The Blue Devils moved up one spot in the final standings,
finishing behind Purdue, Missouri, Bowling Green and UConn. Justin
Hughes shot a final round 73 to finish in a tie for 15th place
to lead the Blue Devils.

Morgan and Kevin
Josephson both finished in a tie for 20th place overall to help
pace the Blue Devils. Morgan shot a day three 77 and Josephson
shot a 74 to finish the three-round tournament with a score of 229
(+13). Hughes finished with a 226 (+10) and was the top finisher
for the Blue Devils.

Hawerchuk each shot a 238 to help the Blue Devils to the fifth
place finish out of 18 total teams. Central's three-day total of
914 was only 17 strokes behind Purdue, who won the team title with
a score of 897. Missouri (900), Bowling Green (903) and UConn
(908) were also in the top five with the Blue Devils. As a team
the Blue Devils finished +50.
Central will return to action hosting the CCSU Invitational at
Wethersfield Country Club on Sept. 12 and 13. It is the lone
tournament the Blue Devils will host this fall.
