Softball Show Recaps 4-1 Weekend

Head Coach Jeff Franquet sits down to recap the four victories at the USF Under Armour Showcase.

The March 14, edition of the Central Connecticut Softball Show recaps the Blue Devils' successfull weekend at the USF Under Armour Showcase. Head coach Jeff Franquet also discusses freshman Laura Messina's selection as Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week.

The Blue Devils earned victories over Northern Iowa (2-1), Miami (OH) (5-3), Penn State (4-3) and Bradley (11-6) last weekend. Central's lone defeat came to the host Bulls of South Florida (10-0).

Freshman Laura Messina was named NEC Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The freshman pitcher tossed a pair of complete game victories and finished the weekend with a .190 batting average against over 17.0 innings.

The Blue Devils return to action on Thursday at Yale and then continue on a seven day road trip through Virginia and Maryland.
