Blake And Staff Named NEC Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year
The group led the Blue Devils to a third straight NEC indoor champions
For the third consecutive time, Eric Blake and his coaching staff, Associate Head Coach Nicole Dumpson-Jackson, assistant coaches Tyler Raymond, Ryan Budd and Amanda Powlen, and volunteer coaches Katie Stevens and Stanley Elyssee, were named the Northeast Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year. The Blue Devils powered to a program-best third-straight NEC Indoor Championship.
The honor, changed from Coach of the Year to Coaching Staff of the Year in 2019, is the 22nd for Blake during his time with the Blue Devils. He has led the program to 27 championships during his tenure, with 16 cross country and 11 indoor or outdoor track and field titles, between the men's and women's teams.
CCSU earned the majority of their points on the track as Ashley Dana and Brooke Morabito each struck gold twice in the distance events. The elite distance tandem also helped lead their squad to a spot on top of the podium in the Distance Medley Relay. The Blue Devils also claimed tacked on two more first-place finishes to their count in the field events.
Morabito was tabbed Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) and Most Valuable Performer after she racked up 28 points with first-place performances in the 3000m and the 5000m, and a second-place finish in the mile run. CCSU's Marina Perry garnered Co-Most Outstanding Field Performer in the Throws events.
