Volleyball Announces Thomas Belton as Assistant Coach
Central Connecticut volleyball head coach Alyssa Broccoli has added Thomas Belton, Jr., to her staff it was announced. Belton comes to Central with a strong background of work with volleyball teams throughout New England.
"I'm very excited to add Thomas to my staff at Central and look forward to working together," said Broccoli. "He will be able to share his experience as a former athlete to relate with the student-athletes in our program and his familiarity with New England will be advantageous as we build towards future success."
Belton graduated from Mount Ida College in Newton, MA, in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management with concentrations in coaching and marketing. He was a four-year member of the men's volleyball team, serving as the captain from 2009-11. As a middle blocker he was a three-team All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference selection in 2009, 2010 and 2011. He was also a member of the men's basketball team as an undergraduate and was a All-Rookie First Team and All-GNAC Team pick in 2007.
"I would like to thank coach Alyssa for adding me to the CCSU coaching staff," said Belton. "Volleyball has been such a significant part of my life and I'm excited to have the opportunity to help elevate the program and witness our student athletes grow."
Belton has worked with Western Massachusetts Volleyball club since 2010. He was the co-director of the club and the head coach off the Elite Under-18 Team. He also has experience as an assistant coach with Team New England and assisted the Newton South High School volleyball team.
