Emily Rose and P.J. Wade Earn Academic Accolades

CCSU seniors Emily Rose and P.J. Wade have had successful careers on the court for the Blue Devils' women's basketball team. Both natives of the state of Virginia, Rose and Wade have been roommates since their sophomore year at Central Connecticut. What the pair also has in common is achieving tremendous success in the classroom during their four years in New Britain.

Central Connecticut outscored Long Island 34-27 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a 13 point halftime deficit as the Blue Devils fell to the Blackbirds in the Northeast Conference semifinals in Loretto, PA this afternoon. Junior Leanne Crockett and sophomore Alexzandria Dowdy led CCSU with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Central finishes the season with an overall record of 12-18 after falling in the NEC semifinals for the second straight season.

The Central Connecticut State University women's basketball team advanced to the Northeast Conference Semifinals for the second straight season with a 63-51 quarterfinal victory over Sacred Heart Saturday night in Loretto, PA. Junior Justina Udenze scored 17 points and a career high 18 rebounds, while junior Leanne Crockett recorded 17 points and 13 boards in the victory. Junior Kerrianne Dugan scored her 1,000th career point during first half action. The Blue Devils will now take on second seed Long Island Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Junior Justina Udenze led Central Connecticut State University with 18 points and added seven rebounds as the Blue Devils defeated St. Francis (NY) by a score of 64-59 on the road Saturday afternoon. CCSU finishes regular season play with an overall record of 11-17 and will be the sixth seed in next weekend's Northeast Conference Tournament with a league mark of 8-10.

Crockett also #$%^finished with 12 rebounds to tally her team-leading eighth double-double of the season. Juniors Kerrianne Dugan and Leanne Crockett both recorded double-doubles as Central Connecticut State University (10-16, 7-9 NEC) defeated Wagner (9-18, 6-10 NEC) by a score of 60-45 on the road Saturday. Dugan led the Blue Devils with 16 points and added 10 rebounds, while Crockett scored 15 points on four three-pointers, grabbed 10 boards and picked up five steals.

Junior Justina Udenze led CCSU with 12 points, while adding nine rebounds and a season-best six blocks. The junior moved into second place in Central Connecticut annals for career blocks with 84 her in three seasons. She passed former Blue Devils Donna Fiedorowicz who totaled 79 during her career in New Britain.

The Central Connecticut State University women's basketball team fell to 9-15 on the season and 6-8 in Northeast Conference play, dropping a 64-45 home decision to St. Francis (PA) Saturday afternoon. Junior Kerrianne Dugan led the Blue Devils with 12 points and seven rebounds, while senior P.J. Wade added 11 points in her 114th career game for Central Connecticut. Wade has played in every game of her four year career at CCSU and today broke the school record for game played in a career, passing Gabriella Guegbelet who played 113 from 2003-2007.

Central Connecticut State University outshot Robert Morris by a mark of 41.2 percent to 31.5 percent from the field, but the Colonials recorded 26 offensive rebounds and turned the Blue Devils over 24 times as CCSU (9-14, 6-7 NEC) fell to RMU (17-17, 12-1 NEC) by a score of 63-53 at home Thursday night. Junior Justina Udenze led Central with 17 points and 10 rebounds, recording her fourth double-double of the season in the defeat.

Juniors Kerrianne Dugan and Justina Udenze scored a combined 41 points and went 15-22 from the free throw line as Central Connecticut State University defeated Bryant (10-13, 7-5 NEC) by a score of 73-59 at home on Saturday afternoon. Dugan led the Blue Devils with a season high 23 points and hit 7-11 from the charity stripe, while Udenze added 18 points on 8-11 free throw shooting. CCSU improves to 9-13 on the season and 6-6 in Northeast Conference action.

Junior Leanne Crockett led CCSU with a career best 26 points and junior Kerrianne Dugan recorded the first Blue Devil double-double from points and assists since 1994 as Central Connecticut State University (8-12, 5-5) defeated Fairleigh Dickinson (6-15, 2-8) by a score of 79-61 at home Saturday afternoon. Crockett didn't miss a shot from the field, going 9-9 from the floor and 4-4 from beyond the arc. Dugan was only one rebound shy of the first ever triple-double in CCSU's Division I history. The junior forward netted 19 points, dealt out a career high 11 assists and grabbed a game best nine rebounds.
