Today's Victory Cliches A Spot In The 2025 NEC Championship For The Blue Devils
For the second straight day, the CCSU softball team exploded for a season-best 10 runs on offense, as the Blue Devils picked up an impressive Senior Day victory on Saturday with a 10-1, run-rule triumph over the visiting Stonehill College Shyhawks in Northeast Conference action. The victory gives the Blue Devils the weekend series by a 2-1 margin and ups the team's overall to mark to 17-25, and the Blue Devils are now 12-6 in conference play this season. Stonehill falls to 11-29 overall, and the Skyhawks are now 3-12 in the NEC. Senior Kassandra (KC) Machado led her team to the win on Saturday, as she went 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs, a two-run shot and a grand slam, plus seven runs batted in.

KEY MOMENTS FROM SATURDAY'S SENIOR DAY WIN:
- The Blue Devils got off to a quick start on Saturday crossing the plate four times in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run homer by Kassandra (KC) Machado and two-RBI double by Grace Lawton.
- The Skyhawks scored their only run of the contest on an RBI-groundout in the top of the second to make the score 4-1 in favor of CCSU.
- Central added a pair of markers in the bottom of the second inning to go up 6-1 on an RBI-single by Machado and a deep sacrifice fly by Ava Cino.
- Machado would strike again in the bottom of third inning when she launched a grand slam home run to complete the scoring in the game. For the season, KC leads the Blue Devils with 11 home runs and 30 RBI. She now has a total of 23 long balls in a CCSU uniform.
- Along with her two-RBI double in the first inning, Grace Lawton added one more base knock to give her a multi-hit afternoon. As a team, Central had a total of nine base hits on Saturday.
- Liz Hamilton surpassed her win total of last season on Saturday, as she earned win number 12 of 2025 to raise her season record to an impressive 12-5. Liz allowed only one run on two hits with four strikeouts and just one walk in her complete game performance.
- Saturday's victory also clinches a spot in this season's NEC Championship for the Blue Devils.
