Five Sign On For Men's XC/Track

The Central Connecticut men's cross country and track and field program announced five National Letter of Intent signings for the 2009-10. Mohamed Hrezi of Naugatuck, Craig Hunt of New Milford, Kyle Roberts of Higganum, Chris Rosenberg of West Hartford, and Josh Trares of Tolland have committed to CCSU for next season. This core of student-athletes gives the Blue Devils a strong incoming class of home grown talent.

Attending Naugatuck High, Hrezi was the Connecticut High School Class L cross country champion in 2008 and he won the 800 meters at the class L state outdoor track and field championships with a time of 1:54 this spring.

Hunt placed second in the 3200 meter run at both the indoor and outdoor Connecticut class L championships in 2009. He recorded a personal best time of 9:19 in the event, running for New Milford High.

Roberts posted a personal record of 4:24 in the 1600 meters for Xavier High, while Rosenberg was a 2008 Connecticut All-State selection in cross country at Hall High School. At Tolland High, Trares was the 2009 Connecticut Class S State Runner-Up in the 3200 meters and finished 11th overall at the State Open cross country meet in 2008.

The Blue Devils showed marked improvement during the 2008-09 season, finishing a school best fourth place at the Northeast Conference indoor track and field championships. CCSU also recorded a fifth place finish at the NEC Outdoor Championships, which was the best effort since 2001.
