Ausanio, Blue Devils Take Second at NEC's

The Central Connecticut women's golf team capped off their 2012-13 season with a runner-up finish at the 2013 Northeast Conference Championship Tournament.  Their second place finish was an impressive five place improvement from last season's seventh place finish.

Defending champion LIU-Brooklyn (304/312/326/942) took home the top spot in the tournament for the second consecutive year.  The Blue Devils (315/328/311/954) finished just 12 strokes back of the Blackbirds to claim second while Fairleigh Dickinson (312/324/323/959) and Sacred Heart (321/312/326/959) tied for third.  Saint Francis U (322/328/314/964) rounded out the field's top-five.

LPGA International - Legends Course played host to this year's NEC Tournament in Dayton Beach, FL.  The par-72 course played 5,919 for the three-day tournament.

Senior Anna Ausanio (74/79/73/226) finished second individually in her final tournament as a Blue Devil.  Ausanio finished fifth at last season's NEC Tournament, improving this year's performance by three places.  Ausanio shot 10 strokes over-par for the tournament and was only one stroke over-par on Sunday.  The senior's 73 was her lowest round score of the tournament for any Blue Devil.  Ausanio shot just seven shots back of the tournament's champion Mariana Juaristi of Fairleigh Dickinson.

Sophomore Albrianna Farnum (80/83/78/241) tied for 14th place on the individual leader board.  Farnum's 78 in round three was her lowest round score of the tournament.  The sophomore finished 25 strokes over-par for the tournament.  Freshman Sarah Boden (83/83/80/246) finished 23rd after her debut NEC Tournament as a Blue Devil.  Boden shot 30 strokes over-par.

Seniors Katie Reid (82/85/80/247) and Stephanie Bednar (79/83/85/247) both finished tied for 24th place individually.  Each senior finished 31 strokes over par over three rounds in their final tournament.

Central finished 90 strokes over-par after three rounds of NEC Tournament play.  The Blue Devils shot the best third round score of any team in the field marking down an impressive 311 which vaulted them up the leader board to second on Sunday.
