  • Lee and John Named To All-NEC Team

    Central Connecticut senior captains Alice Lee and Stephanie John were selected to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team as announced Thursday night at the NEC women's lacrosse banquet. The banquet was held at Sacred Heart University, who is hosting the NEC tournament this weekend as the number one seed.
  • Women's Lax Falls to Sacred Heart 12-4 on Senior Day

    Senior captain Alice Lee recorded 15 saves in a 12-4 home loss to Sacred Heart (9-6, 6-1) on Friday afternoon. Central Connecticut (1-15, 1-7) received goals from four different players, including senior captain Stephanie John as the Blue Devils lost in their final game of the 2009 season. Lee, John, senior captain Jill Pomposi, and senior manager Michelle Downey were recognized before the game for their outstanding achievements on and off the field at CCSU.
  • Blue Devils Run Out of Steam, Fall to Manhattan 10-6 at Home

    Sophomore Michele Conway and freshman Alexa Smead each scored three points, on two goals and one assist, but Central Connecticut (1-14) gave up four goals in a row during the final 12 minutes of play and lost to Manhattan (9-4) by a score of 10-6 on Tuesday night. Senior captain Alice Lee was impressive in goal, as she stopped 20 shots for the Blue Devils.
  • Lee Stops 27 In Blue Devils' 16-15 Northeast Conference Win Over St. Francis (PA)

    With only three minutes and 45 seconds remaining in the game the Central Connecticut (1-13, 1-6) women's lacrosse team had just given up three straight goals and found themselves tied 15-15 with St. Francis (PA) (1-10, 0-7). That was when junior attacker Lyndsey Mastandrea took things into her own hands and found the back of the net on an unassisted goal with only two and a half minutes left to play. The Blue Devils, behind senior goalkeeper Alice Lee's 27 saves, held on to defeat the Red Flash 16-15 in Loretto, PA for their first win of the season.
  • Blue Devils Fall To Robert Morris On The Road

    Junior Lyndsey Mastandrea scored two goals and recorded three draw controls as Central Connecticut (0-13, 0-6) was upended by Robert Morris (7-6, 3-2) 19-6 on the road in Moon Township, PA. Senior captain Stephanie John scored her team leading 26th goal of the season to move into second place in CCSU history with 88 career goals.
  • John Breaks Career Draw Controls Record In Loss Versus Monmouth

    Recording a game high six draw controls in Central Connecticut's (0-12, 0-5) 21-5 home loss versus Monmouth (6-6, 4-1), senior Stephanie John broke the CCSU record for career draw controls with 105. The captain passed former Blue Devil standout Amy Clark who finished her career with 103. John is the only player in Central Connecticut history to compile 100 draw controls, 100 points and 100 ground balls. Sophomore Michele Conway led the CCSU scoring attack with one goal and one assist in the loss.
  • John Scores Five In 17-8 Loss Versus The Mount

    Senior captain Stephanie John scored five goals and added one assist to keep Central Connecticut (0-11, 0-4) in the game, as the Blue Devils were upended by Northeast Conference leading Mount St. Mary's (4-8, 4-0) 17-8 at home Friday evening. The midfielder's five goals moved her into second place in CCSU annals for career points scored as she has now accumulated 112 in her four seasons as a Blue Devil. During tonight's game John passed former CCSU standout Abby Hayes who recorded 108 points during her time at Central Connecticut.
  • Freshmen Lead The Way in 12-8 Loss At Bryant

    Freshmen Alexa Smead, Ashley Perkoski and Ashley Mara led the way for Central Connecticut, with two points each, as the Blue Devils fell to Bryant 12-8 on the road Wednesday night. Smead and Perkoski scored two goals, while Mara tallied one goal and one assist in the defeat.
  • Blue Devils Upended By UC Davis 9-7

    The Central Connecticut (0-9) women's lacrosse team lost a tightly contested 9-7 game to UC Davis (3-8) at home Thursday afternoon. The Blue Devils never led in the contest, but tied the Aggies at one and at two in the first half. Senior captain Stephanie John moved into third place in CCSU history with 106 career points, tallying one goal and one assist in today's loss. The Lisbon, CT native also recorded three ground balls, three caused turnovers and four draw controls on the afternoon.
  • Perkoski Has Career Day In Loss To Long Island

    A late five goal run by Long Island lifted the Blackbirds to a 16-15 victory over Central Connecticut on Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn, NY. CCSU was up 15-11 with 12:55 remaining in the game before LIU rattled off the last five goals in the next two minutes and 13 seconds. Neither team scored during the final 10 minutes of play and the Blackbirds held on for the 16-15 victory. Freshman attacker Ashley Perkoski had her best offensive output of the year, scoring four goals and assisting on another for the Blue Devils.
  • Mastandrea Scores Three In Blue Devil Loss To Wagner

    Junior midfielder Lyndsey Mastandrea scored three goals and picked up two ground balls, but the Central Connecticut lacrosse team got down 5-1 early and lost to Wagner 16-7 on the road. Mastandrea equaled her scoring total of the season during Friday's game, but the Seahawks received four goals from senior Jessica Richmond to defeat the Blue Devils. CCSU senior captain Stephanie John added two goals in the loss, moving her into a tie for third place in school history for career goals. The midfielder now has 78 and needs 10 more to move into second in the record books.
  • Lee Sets Career Saves Record in 11-8 Loss to Detroit

    Senior goalkeeper Alice Lee came into Wednesday night's game in second place in Central Connecticut annals for career saves. Although the Blue Devils (0-6) fell to Detroit (2-4) by a score of 11-8, Lee's 16 saves on the night moved her past Amanda Zabel and into first place in the record books with 514 career saves. Fellow senior captain Stephanie John scored one goal and assisted on two others to keep CCSU in the game.

    Senior captain Stephanie John scored two goals and added an assist, but the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team was upended by Quinnipiac 15-7 on Tuesday afternoon. Despite an even six to six second half and 16 saves from senior captain Alice Lee, the Blue Devils fell to 0-5 and lost their first Northeast Conference game. The bobcats improve to 2-1 and 1-0 in the NEC.
  • Lee Saves 20 In 15-9 Home Loss to Siena

    Senior goalkeeper Alice Lee recorded her highest save output of the season, stopping 20, but the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team was upended 15-9 by Siena on Sunday afternoon. Fellow senior Stephanie John, as well as junior Lyndsey Mastandrea and freshman Ashley Perkoski, scored two goals each as the Blue Devils fell to 0-4 at Arute Stadium. The Saints of Siena improve to 2-1 this season.
  • Central Lacrosse Set to Host Friends of Jaclyn Event

    The week of March 1-8, 2009 will be the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Friends of Jaclyn Week. The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization that improves the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families. CCSU's first home game against Siena on March 8 will be a Friends of Jaclyn event to help support this cause.
  • Stephanie John Earns First Ever NEC Weekly Honor

    Senior captain Stephanie John received Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors for her performances against Presbyterian and Davidson this weekend. With this recognition she became the first CCSU lacrosse player to receive an NEC weekly award in the program's history.
  • Lax Upended 11-5 In Weather Shortened Game at Davidson

    Freshman Alexa Smead scored her fifth and sixth goals of the season, but the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team fell behind in the second half and lost to Davidson on the road 11-5. The game was called at the 12:09 mark in the second half due to inclement weather conditions. Stephanie John, Ashley Mara and Lyndsey Mastandrea also scored goals in the loss.
  • John Scores Six, Blue Devils Fall 17-16 to Presbyterian

    Senior captain Stephanie John put forth a tremendous effort, scoring six goals and adding an assist, six draw controls and causing two turnovers, but the Central Connecticut (0-2) lacrosse team came up short in a 17-16 loss at Presbyterian College (1-2) on Friday afternoon. The Blue Devils rallied off three straight goals in a ten minute span to turn a 15-13 deficit into a 16-15 lead with five minutes remaining in the game. Presbyterian countered with two goals in the final three and a half minutes to edge out CCSU in Clinton, SC.
  • Smead Scores Three In Lax Opener, CCSU Falls to 'Nova 13-5
    February 22, 2009
    Freshman Alexa Smead scored three goals in her first collegiate game, but the Central Connecticut lacrosse team fell to Villanova 13-5 on the road on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats started the game with a seven to one run and held on for the victory, out-shooting the Blue Devils 37-19. CCSU senior captain Stephanie John added two goals in the defeat.
  • Blue Devil Lacrosse Set to Host High School Mini Clinic
    February 13, 2009
    The Central Connecticut lacrosse team will be hosting a five on five tournament and mini clinic for high school teams at Arute Field on Friday March 13. Head coach Rachel Tringali and assistant Erin Cayea will be giving chalk talks on offensive and defensive strategies, as well as question and answer sessions on the college recruiting system during the event. Teams may come with a coach but a Central varsity player will be designated to each team to help coach.   • CCSU Lax Picked To Finish 7th In NEC Coaches' Poll

    The Northeast Conference coaches have selected the Central Connecticut lacrosse team to finish seventh in league play during the upcoming 2009 season. Led by seniors Alice Lee and Stephanie John, head coach Rachel Tringali and the Blue Devils will look to improve upon last year's eighth place finish.
  • Erin Cayea Joins Lacrosse Staff

    CCSU women's lacrosse head coach Rachel Tringali announced that Erin Cayea will be joining her coaching staff for the 2009 season. Cayea was previously the assistant women's lacrosse coach at Villa Julie College.
