Blue Devils Score Three in Ninth to Win 4-2 on the Road at Fairfield

Senior Sean Miller-Jones homered and the Blue Devils scored three ninth inning runs on Friday to come from behind and top Fairfield 4-2 on the road. The win is the sixth in a row for the Blue Devils and moves their record to 16-12-1 on the season. The two teams play again at Fairfield on Saturday at 12 noon.

The Blue Devils trailed 2-1 heading into the top of the ninth inning. Miller-Jones homered to lead off the inning to tie the score. After a pair of strikeouts by the Blue Devils, two Blue Devils reached on walks, and then an error by the Stags allowed both runners to score to give the Blue Devils the 4-2 lead.

The Stags scored the first two runs of the game to lead 2-0. They scored on in the second and another in the sixth to take the lead. Central cut the lead in the half in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly from A.J. Lowers.

The homer by Miller-Jones was his team-leading third of the season. Central had just three hits in the game, and was hitless in the first five innings.

Senior Dave Krasnowiecki pitched the first six innings for Central, allowing seven hits and two earned runs. Donny Crook went two innings without allowing a hit and struck out one to earn the victory. Freshman Josh Ingham picked up his team-best fourth save of the season pitching the final inning and striking out one.

Central and Fairfield play again on Saturday in Fairfield with a single game at 12 noon. On Sunday the two teams move to New Britain for a single game beginning at 1 p.m.
