The Kansas City Chiefs announced today that they have signed former Central Connecticut offensive lineman Rich Ranglin. The former San Jose Saber Cat of the Arena Football League had appeared in nine games in 2012 for San Jose (7-2), starting all of them on the offensive line where he posted four receptions for 48 yards.
Kansas City Chiefs Announcement
Ranglin (6-3, 315) was one of the few offensive linemen in the Arena Football League to play in all 18 games in 2011 in his second season in the league. He earned Spalding Offensive Lineman of the Year honors in 2011 and was a constant force on the offensive line, helping the Kansas City Command rank in the top half of the league in total (300.4 yards/game) and passing offense (276.7 yards/game). A threat in the receiving game, Ranglin also ranked in the top ten among offensive linemen in the AFL in receiving yards with 67 in 2011 on four receptions.
He joined the Command after spending his rookie season in the league with the Milwaukee Iron, who finished the 2010 season with an 11-5 record en route to winning the Midwest Division. Playing in ten games for the Iron, Ranglin helped the team rank first in the league in sacks allowed with only one on the year, while the Milwaukee offense led the league in numerous offensive categories including scoring offense (65.4 points/game), total offense (349.3 yards/game) and pass efficiency (126.7).
A four-year letterman at Central Connecticut from 2003-07, Ranglin earned second-team All-Northeast Conference honors. A native of Yonkers, NY, Ranglin attended Saunders Trades and Technical (NY) High School where he earned all-league and all-county honors as a senior playing on both offense and defense. The Blue Devils won NEC Titles in 2004 and 2005, their first league titles in school history.
