CCSU and CPTV Sports Announce TV Deal
Central Connecticut Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann announced today that the Blue Devils have reached an agreement with CPTV Sports to televise a minimum of seven home men's and women's basketball games in January and February of 2012.
The games will be televised live on CPTV Sports, previously named the Connecticut Sports Network, and will be available to subscribers of both Cox and Comcast throughout Connecticut.
"We are excited to partner with CPTV Sports to televise a number of our men's and women's basketball games in the new year," Schlickmann said on Monday. "With our vast alumni network in the state as well as the extensive business and community relationships we have developed in the Central Connecticut region, CPTV Sports will provide us the opportunity to extend and enhance our reach to our fans. This is an excellent medium to showcase our institution and the talents of our student-athletes. Central Connecticut's relationship with CPTV Sports is just beginning, but we hope this initial package develops into a long term, mutually beneficial partnership for years to come."
The first televised game will take place this Thursday night, January 5, as the men's team returns to Northeast Conference action and hosts St. Francis (PA) at 7 p.m. A total of four men's games and three women's games will be televised, including doubleheaders on January 28 and February 25. The four men's games brings the total television appearances for the Blue Devils during the 2011-12 season to nine.
CPTV Sports is Connecticut's only 24-hour local sports network, covering statewide high school sports, college match-ups, professional sports competitions and more. Launched on November 1, 2011, CPTV Sports is available on Comcast cable channels 185, 187 and 744 and on the Cox Communications cable system channel 144.
