Men's Track Finishes Fourth at NEC Outdoor Championships
The Central Connecticut men's track team finished fourth at the 2011 Northeast Conference Championships the Blue Devils scored 114 team points and were led by several outstanding individual performances. Sophomore Aaron Radden claimed gold in the 100 and 200 meter events.
Radden claimed gold in the 100 meter with a time of 10.89 seconds he then returned to the track to claim the 200 meter gold with a 21.31 second performance. Radden claimed the 60 and 200 meter gold at the NEC Indoor Championships in February.
Sophomore Mohamed Hrezi who had finished helped the Blue Devils to a 4 X 800 meter relay victory on Saturday claimed the silver in the individual 800 meter race. Hrezi ran a 1:52.14 to earn eight team points.
Sophomore Nick Lindblom finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with an IC4A qualifying time of 53.45 seconds. He also took seventh in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.69 seconds.
Sophomore Craig Hunt and junior Sam Alexander finished three-four in the 5,000 meter run a day after finished back-to-back in the 10,000 meters. This time it was Hunt finishing ahead of Alexander. Hunt ran a 14:57.87 and Alexander a 14:58.21.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase sophomore Anthony Gonsalves finished fourth with a time of 9:35.59.
Sophomore Jeremy Schmid finished sixth in the 1500 meter run. He earned three team points with his 3:59.52 performance in the event.
On the infield junior Matt Berube finished fifth in the triple jump and freshman Denzell Jones finished seventh. Berube posted a best jump of 13.77 meters and Jones a jump of 13.68 meters.
Junior Rashad Williams finished fifth in the shot put and eighth in the hammer throw. His best throw of the shot was 15.79 meters and his hammer toss was 47.75 meters.
Monmouth finished first with 143.50 points. Robert Morris was second with 133 and Sacred Heart scored 120 points to finish third.
