Women's Basketball Holds Free Clinic
The women's basketball team hosted a free clinic on October 15, for girls from local communities.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team hosted a free clinic for fifth to eighth grade girls on October 15. The clinic was held at New Britain High School and was attended by 40 young-players from the local community.
The Blue Devil women's basketball players worked with the young players on offensive and defensive drills throughout the session. The clinic provided the Blue Devils with an opportunity to work with children in the community and too make some young fans.
Central's women's basketball coaching staff also participated in the clinic.
Coach Beryl Piper is no stranger to New Britain High School, she was the girls varsity basketball coach at New Britain for 19 seasons, while also teaching in the district.
"The opportunity to go back to New Britain High School and work with local basketball players is so important," Piper said. "It is great for our team to get to know the local athletes and for the young kids in the community to develop a relationship with Central's athletes."
"I know that our players can influence these young ladies to work hard at whatever it is they are doing and through this hard work be successful in the future."
The women's basketball season begins on Novermber 11, as the Blue Devils host Maine in Detrick Gym at 7 p.m.
