At first, I was staying with the team manager, but then on Friday I moved into a house with two teammates. It is a really nice house. I have my own room and the house is within walking distance to the grocery store and a few other small food places. We have today off, the two other girls went home so I am alone in the house. The house is in Almere, which is about 15 minutes away from the gym where we will play our home games.
Today on my day off, I have to do some laundry and will just walk around to see what is close to the house. We are provided with a car but I don't know how to drive a stick shift. Something I probably should have learned before I left! The car is very small, compared to cars in the US, but is average size here in Holland.
One of my cousins got married on Saturday, so after practice my dad and I went to the reception. It was really nice seeing family that I have not seen in 9 years.
My dad left yesterday, so I am really on my own now. All of my family here has already said that they will come to everything that they can.
Today the coach announced who would be traveling to Hungary for four days to play two games. Only 15 people were selected to go and I was one of those 15. If you are not selected to go you still have to practice. I'm excited to go. I have never been to Hungary before, so it should be interesting.
I have attached a few pictures. The black building is where I practiced on Saturday and Sunday and it is where we will play all of our home games. There is also a photo of the car. It is tiny. The other day three of us had to fit in with six travel bags and three backpacks!
I will write and send a few pictures after the trip to Hungary!
