Sarochova Leads After Day One at Mount Holyoke Invitational, Blue Devils Tied for Sixth
Central Connecticut junior Lucie Sarochova holds a two stroke lead following opening round play at the Mount Holyoke Invitational. Sarochova shot 76 on the par 72 Orchards Golf Club in Hadley, MA. As a team, the Blue Devils are tied for sixth in the 13-team field. They posted an opening round team score of 347. Amherst leads after shooting 328. Final round play begins tomorrow morning.
Sarochova shot 39-37 and leads the field with three birdies. She played the par threes at even and the par fives at one under to build her lead. Wellesley sophomore Kimberly Eaton is in second. Nine players are within five shots of Sarochova.
CCSU senior Deborah Kim is currently tied for 15th in the 79-player field. Kim shot 83. Blue Devil sophomore Chelsea Woods shot 92, while junior teammate Natalie Jones carded a 96. Junior Lisa McCormick shot 109 for Central Connecticut, and sophomore Jennie Dyson shot a 113 participating as an individual.
Amherst has a one stroke lead over Hartford and Mount Holyoke in the team standings. Williams (338) and Saint Lawrence (340) round out the top five. CCSU is tied with Vassar.
Final round play at the Orchards begins tomorrow morning.
