Women's Golf Places Second at Hawk Invitational
Central Connecticut State University placed four players in the top 16, finishing second in the Hawk Spring Invitational at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, NJ. Freshman Stephanie Bednar led the Blue Devils as she tied for seventh overall. Bednar recorded a score of 82 on Saturday and came back with an 81 on Sunday's 18 holes to finish the tournament in 163.
CCSU recorded a team score of 667, while Fairleigh Dickinson took home the tournament championship with a mark of 639. Host Monmouth led Central by six strokes after first day action but finished at 677 to place third. FDU's Michele Holzwarth earned medalist honors with a two day score of 153.
Freshman Anna Ausanio trailed Bednar by one stroke to tie for 10th place overall. She led all Blue Devils with a 78 on Saturday and recorded an 86 today to finish in 164. Senior Natalie Jones put forth the best individual score for Central on Sunday. She shot an 80, finishing in 169 to tie for 14th in the tournament.
Freshman Katie Reid and junior Chelsea Woods rounded out the CCSU golfers on the weekend. Reid placed 16th after rounds of 90 and 81, while Woods finished in 28th, recording scores of 97 and 90 on the weekend.
The Blue Devils will next compete in the Dartmouth Invitational at the Cape Cod Country Club on April 10 and 11 in Falmouth, MA.
