The Central Connecticut lacrosse team dropped a Northeast Conference game to Bryant on Thursday night. The 13-9 loss drops the Blue Devils to 1-6 in the NEC and 6-8 on the season overall. Sophomore Betsy Vendel led the Blue Devils with a pair of goals and a pair of assists.
The Blue Devils first goal came off the stick of sophomore Meaghan McCurry. Junior Ashley Mara had the assist on the goal. Mara and McCurry teamed up again for the Blue Devils next score.
Central's next score came off of a free position goal by Vendel. That score made it a 3-2 game. The Blue Devils ran their lead to three with a goal by sophomore Mackenzy Ryan and another by senior Michele Conway. Junior Ashley Perkoski and Vendel had the assists on the goals.
After a Bulldog goal, freshman Claire Healy scored her fifth goal of the season, to push the lead back to three. Ryan netted her second goal of the game to make the score 7-4 after another Bryant goal.
Goals by Vendel and freshman Amanda Toke pushed the Blue Devils to a 9-7 lead in the second half.
The Bulldogs scored six straight goals in the final 17 minutes of the game to pull out a 13-9 come from behind victory.
Junior Erin Delancey took the loss in the net. She falls to 6-8 on the season, while making nine saves.
The Blue Devils return to action next Thursday at Long Island.
