CCSU Finishes Final Day at Terrier Invite, Harvard Diving Invite
Sophomore Alex Czaplicki placed third
in the 200 backstroke as the Central Connecticut State Unviversity
swim team placed seventh out of nine teams at the Terrier
Invitational this weekend. Czaplicki recorded a time of 2:04.55 to
lead Central in the final day of the meet at Boston University.
Senior Kristen Rossi and sophomore Madison Vestergaard also
finished diving at the Harvard Invitational on Sunday.
Freshmen Taylor Friedmann and Katie Lang were the only other Blue Devils to finish in the top 10 of an event on the final day of action in Boston. Friedmann placed ninth, while Lang was 10th in the 200 butterfly. They recorded times of 2:07.39 and 2:08.65, respectively.
Three other freshmen put forth individual performances on Sunday. Lauren O'Kelly and Christine Smith competed in the 1650 freestyle. O'Kelly placed 15th (18:01.51), while Smith was 21st in 18:32.62. Allison Rasile joined Czaplicki in the 200 back, recording a time of 2:10.78 to place 18th.
Sophomore Kristen Malski was the final Blue Devil swimmer in individual action on Sunday, placing 18th in the 200 breast stroke with a time of 2:27.51. The CCSU 400 freestyle relay team of Friedmann, senior Kandra Kane, Lang and Czaplicki placed ninth in a time of 3:36.58.
Rossi and Vestergaard both competed in the one and three meter dive events as individuals at the Harvard Invitational. Rossi recorded scores of 194.85 and 182.15 in the two events, respectively, while Vestergaard put forth totals of 176.10 and 184.10.
Central Connecticut finished with 165 points in the Terrier Invitational to place seventh. The host Terriers won the meet, recording a total of 819.5 points.
