CCSU Competes In Day One of College Conference Carnival

Freshman Taylor Friedmann and senior Kandra Kane both placed in the top 10 of the 500 freestyle as Central Connecticut State University competed in the first day of action at the Swimming World College Conference Carnival. Friedmann took third with a time of 5:00.38, while Kane placed seventh, touching in at 5:05.51.

Sophomore Alex Czaplicki finished in the top 10 on two occassions Friday. She placed sixth in the 200 IM in a time of 2:10.27 and touched in at 2:08.79 to place ninth in the 200 backstroke. Fellow sophomore Kristen Malski was tops for the Blue Devils in the 200 breaststroke, as she took home eighth with a time of 2:27.69.

Friedmann added to her third place finish in the 500 free with a 55.11 second 100 free, which placed her 10th on the day. Freshman Katie Lang also had a good performance in the 200 butterfly, placing ninth in a time of 2:10.40.

The Blue Devils are currently in sixth place with 16 points. CCSU will return to the action at Rutgers on Saturday.
