Women's Cross Country Places 5th at Quinnipiac
The Central Connecticut State University women's cross country team placed five runners in the top 50 and took fifth place out of 11 teams in competition at Saturday's Quinnipiac Invitational. Junior Katherine Bossardet led the way for the Blue Devils, placing eighth in a time of 18 minutes and 50.6 seconds on the five kilometer course.
The host Bobcats won the team competition with a near perfect 19 points. They placed five runners in the top seven, and Rebecca White won the individual championship. Sacred Heart, Monmouth and Yale finished ahead of CCSU in second, third and fourth places, respectively. Central put forth a score of 136, just seven points behind fourth place Yale.
Alyssa Cole was the second finisher for CCSU, taking 19th place in 19:27.6. Amanda Asaro finished in 19:45.2 (29th), while Nicole Coiteux recorded a time of 20:05.0 (40th). Kim Savino rounded out the top five finishers for the Blue Devils, placing 55th in 20:34.3.
CCSU will next compete at the Ted Owen Invitational at Stanley Quarter Park on Saturday September 26.
