Central Places Fifth of 11 at CCSU Mini Meet

The Central Connecticut State University women's cross country team competed in the final meet before the Northeast Conference Championships, placing 5th out of 11 teams at the CCSU Mini Meet on Saturday morning. Junior Katherine Bossardet led the Blue Devils with a 15th place finish, crossing the line in 10:46.86 on the three kilometer course.

Central scored 135 points, just seven behind fourth place Rhode Island and 23 ahead of Hartford in sixth. The Blue Devils lost to one NEC team and defeated two others at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain. Quinnipiac won the meet with a score of 32 points, while Long Island and Wagner took ninth and 10th, scoring 237 and 242 points respectively.

Senior Alyssa Cole was the second best finisher for CCSU on Saturday, placing 20th in a time of 10:52.00. Junior Nicole Coiteux, senior Kim Savino, and sophomore Amanda Asaro rounded out the scorers for the Blue Devils. Coiteux took 39th place, crossing the line in 11:16.60, while Savino (11:25.60) and Asaro (11:25.75) finished within the same second for 46th and 47th place, respectively.

CCSU will compete at the conference championships at Quinnipiac on Saturday October 31.
