Football Unveils 2025 Slate
Defending NEC Champions will play seven home games in a 12-game slate
The path to defending its Northeast Conference championship has been unveiled for the Central Connecticut State football team. The Blue Devils finished the 2024 campaign with a 7-5 overall record and won the league title for a record seventh time.
The Blue Devils will play a dozen games during the 2025 season, with seven games at Arute Field.
"A new season is always exciting, and we are thrilled to be able to play in front of our home crowd seven times in 2025," said reigning NEC Coach of the Year Adam Lechtenberg. "We have put together a competitive schedule, with some in-state rivals, great home games and the ever-important conference slate. We can't wait to be back out there for real in the fall!"
The season opener is nearly a home game, as the Blue Devils travel to Rentschler Field for a game versus UConn on August 30th.
The Blue Devils return home a week later to host AIC, before beginning NEC play, also at home, on September 13th versus Saint Francis. It marks the second meeting with AIC in the Lechtenberg era, with the first being his coaching debut in 2022, a 44-0 win at Arute Field. all-time meeting with AIC, the first coming in Lechtenberg's first game as head coach, a 44-0 victory for the Blue Devils. The Blue Devils are 23-7 all-time against the Red Flash.
Central renews a rivalry with two former NEC members this season, travelling to Merrimack on September 20th and hosting Sacred Heart on October 4th. Those games are sandwiched around a home contest with Ivy League member Dartmouth, September 27th. Central leads the all-time series with both of their former NEC foes, se opponents, winning three of five versus the Warriors and holding an 13-12 series record versus the Pioneers.
Following the game with SHU, the Blue Devils head on the road for consecutive NEC games, playing at Robert Morris, October 11th and at Wagner on October 18th. The game at RMU will be the 29th all-time between the two squads, with CCSU winning 10 of those meetings, all since 2002. Wagner and Central will meet for the 37th time, with CCSU winning 20 of those meetings.
Three of the final four games of the season will, all in November, for the second season in a row will be at the friendly confines of Arute Field. CCSU begins the month with home games versus LIU (1-4 all-time) and Stonehill (2-1 all-time), before heading to Duquesne for a November 15th matchup. CCSU won its eight meeting in the series this past November, to win the NEC crown. The Blue Devils close the season for a second consecutive year with a home game as they host Mercyhurst on November 22nd. It is the second meeting between the two squads.
Season tickets for the 2025 campaign will go on sale in early July.
