Men's Soccer Downed at NJIT on Wednesday
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team was shutout at NJIT on Wednesday night, 4-0, in Newark, NJ. The Highlanders would take advantage of three goals in the opening half to clean up the victory.
The Blue Devils travel to Binghamton on Saturday.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Highlanders would gather all the offense they would need with a trio of first half markers. The opener came just over 10 minutes into the game when Alvaro Heredia got behind the defense and slipped a shot into the net. The lead was doubled 16 minutes later when Amit Magoz redirected a cross off his head into the far corner of the net. NJIT would tack on a goal just before halftime after Matt Moran cleaned up a loose ball in front of goal and kicked it in to make it 3-0.
- The Blue Devils opened the second half applying pressure in the offensive end. CCSU would nearly crack the scoring column in the 56th minute when Arnau Rabassa Guillamon rattled the wordwork with his shot.
- NJIT closed out the scoring in the match with 33 minutes remaining after a foul occurred in the penalty area. Sergio Martinez Cubel would convert the penalty kick to make it 4-0.
NOTES
- CCSU is 3-1-2 all-time against the Highlanders.
- Rabassa Guillamon led the Blue Devils with three shot attempts.
- Michel Pinoncely and Mick Sipples each had two saves for CCSU.
