CCSU Women Face Big 12 Foe Cincinnati On Tuesday Morning
Blue Devils And Bearcats Set For An 11 AM Tip
The Central Connecticut State women's basketball team completes a two-game road trip in the State of Ohio on Tuesday morning when the Blue Devils face the Bearcats of the University of Cincinnati (4-2) in a non-conference clash at 11:00 a.m. in the UC's Fifth Third Arena. Central (1-8) opened play in Ohio on Sunday afternoon with a 65-38 loss at the University of Dayton.

Tuesday will be the first all-time meeting between the two schools.
A LOOK BACK AT SUNDAY VERSUS DAYTON ....
• CCSU opened its two-game road trip to the Buckeye State with a 65-38 loss at the University of Dayton on Sunday afternoon. Graduate student Meghan Kenefick led the Blue Devils in scoring at Dayton with eight points and she grabbed five rebounds. Junior Lucia Noin finished the afternoon with seven points and had a team-leading six rebounds for CCSU. Central struggled on offense all afternoon, as the Blue Devils shot only 16.4 percent from the floor for the game, as they hit just 10-of-61 shots. The 38 points scored are a single-game low so far this year for CCSU.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION ....
• The University of Cincinnati Bearcats are members of the Big 12 Conference and come into play on Tuesday with a 4-2 overall record. In its most recent action, UC split a pair of games at the Atlantic Slam W Classic held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada defeating Georgetown on November 22, 59-57, and falling to Florida Gulf Coast University, 59-52, two days later.
• Fifth-year senior Jillian Hayes leads Cincinnati in scoring averaging 20.2 points per game, and Hayes also leads the team on the glass grabbing an average of 9.7 rebounds be outing.
• Senior Tineya Hylton is also averaging in double-digit scoring at 14.0 points per game.
• As a team, UC is averaging 66.0 points and 37.2 rebounds per outing, and they are allowing the opposition 55.8 points per game plus opponents are pulling down an average of 31.2 rebounds per game.
• The Bearcats are led by head coach Katrina Merriweather, who is in her second season as her alma mater's bench boss. Merriweather has also served as head coach at Wright State and Memphis. Last season, Cincinnati posted a 14-18 overall mark and a 5-13 conference record and made an appearance in the WNIT.

• CCSU's number two ranking in the Preseason Northeast Conference Coaches' Poll is the highest ranking in program history.
• Graduate student Meghan Kenefick leads CCSU in scoring through nine games averaging 10.0 points per contest, and she is also averaging 4.9 rebounds per game. Meghan enters Tuesday's action with a career total of 474 rebounds.
• Freshman Selina Monestime is next in scoring averaging just under double figures at 9.8 points per game, and she is grabbing an average of 5.0 rebounds per game; which is second on the squad.
• Classmate Dagny Slomack is third on the squad in scoring heading into the Cincinnati game averaging 9.6 points per contest.
• Junior Alonna Sellers leads CCSU on the boards so far in 2024-25 averaging 6.9 rebounds per game. Sellers is also averaging 8.3 points per outing.
• Senior Amaya Williams is the only CCSU player to start every game so far this season, and she also is shooting an impressive 90.9 percent from the free throw line so far this year, as she has knocked down 10-of-11 shots from the charity stripe.
• In their last two games, Central has forced the opposition to commit a total of 54 turnovers; 23 by Dayton on Sunday and 31 by the University of Bridgeport on Black Friday.
• After notching a season-high 17 steals against Bridgeport last Friday, CCSU has 12 more thefts on Sunday at Dayton led by Selina Monestime who had four steals versus the Flyers.
• As a team, the Blue Devils are averaging 54.2 points per game and allowing the opposition to score an average of 69.4 points per game. On the glass, Central is pulling down an average of 34.2 rebounds per game; while the opposition is averaging 41.2 rebounds per contest.
