Women's Lax Falls to #19/20 Stony Brook

The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team fell to #19/20 Stony Brook by a score of 19-3 on Wednesday night at Arute Field.  The Blue Devils (0-2) will return to action on Saturday at Villanova.

Stony Brook (2-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead over the first 11 minutes of play, but the Blue Devils responed with back-to-back scores to close the deficit to 3-2.  Unfurtunatly, Stony Brook answered with seven straight goals to take a 10-2 into halftime.

Sophomore Jessica Sudock scored CCSU's first goal on a free position shot at the 11:58 mark of the period.  Senior Betsy Vendel followed with her fourth goal of the season 90 seconds later.  Junior Claire Healy had the assist on the goal by Vendel.

The Seawolves scored the first two goals of the second period to increase their lead to 12-2.

Senior Mackenzy Ryan scored Central's goal in the second half on a free position shot.  The score came at the 36:15 mark of the game and cut CCSU's deficit to 12-3.

Stony Brook added seven more goals to finish the game with a 19-3 advantage.

Sophomore Morgan Tullar recorded 11 saves in the game.  Her second straight game with 11 stops. Tullar also had seven ground balls.

Stony Brook held a decisive 18-6 advantage on draw controls.   The Seawolves were led by Demmianne Cook who had seven draw controls and six goals.

Senior Ali Roche, junior Ashley Olhausen, senior Cierra Ward and Vendel all had multiple ground balls in the game for CCSU.  Also, Roche and Olhausen combined to cause four turnovers.

The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday March 2nd, at Villanova.
