Swimming and Diving in Fifth Place After Day One of ECAC Championships
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team finished day one in fifth place at the ECAC Championships. The Blue Devils scored 105 team points, Harvard is in first place with 218 points. The Blue Devils were led by third place finishes from sophomore Taylor Friedmann and junior Alex Czaplicki.
Friedmann took third in the 500 free posting a 4:51.13 in the finals. That time earned the third place finish and the 16 team points that go with it. Czaplicki earned her third place finish in the 200 IM. Her time in the finals was 2:05.46, she also earned 16 points for her team.
Czaplicki and Friedmann teamed up with freshman Helene Neuhaus and junior Kristen Malski to earn a fourth place finish in 400 medley relay. They posted a time of 3:52.09 and earned 30 points for CCSU.
On the diving board junior Madison Vestergaard scored 178.10 points and earned an eighth place finish. That performance earned her 11 points for the team.
The Blue Devils will return to action tomorrow at the ECAC Championships.
