Softball Drops Two in First Day at Frost Classic
Central Connecticut (0-2) dropped its second game on the season 6-2 at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, TN to the University of Tennessee at Martin #$%^(7-0). The Blue Devils rallied in the bottom of the fourth inning for 2 runs. Senior Tiffany Erickson led off the hitting with a single to center field. Junior #$%^Kendall Sours followed by reaching on a fielder's choice and Erickson advanced to second on a throwing error by the Sky Hawk short stop. Senior #$%^Jaclyn Logan singled to left center driving in Sours and Erickson for two RBI, cutting the UTM lead to 4-2.
Game 1
Central Connecticut (0-1) lost its season opener 8-0 in five innings against East Tennessee State (5-3) at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, TN.
The Blue Devils ended the Buccaneers second inning scoring threat to keep the score 1-0 with an outfield assist by senior Tiffany Erickson, throwing out a buccaneer at third base.
The Buccaneers added six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Sophomore Annie Martin led off the fifth inning for ETSU with a single and then scored on a double by sophomore Amy Campbell. The Buccaneers took advantage of back to back Blue Devil errors to score Campbell. Freshman Arielle Garner doubled to right center to drive in three runs for ETSU and junior Katie Henderson ended the game on a single up the middle to score Garner.
Senior Sara Budrick posted the Blue Devils only hit of the game when she singled in the top of the fourth inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Budrick was the only Blue Devil base runner against ETSU. Starting pitcher senior Marissa Hardy (1-1) allowed only one hit and struck out six in a five inning complete game effort for the ETSU Buccaneers.
Game 2

Junior Kendall Sours followed by reaching on a fielder's choice and Erickson advanced to second on a throwing error by the Sky Hawk short stop. Senior Jaclyn Logan singled to left center driving in Sours and Erickson for two RBI, cutting the UTM lead to 4-2.
UTM answered quickly in the top of the fifth inning, when Junior Jordan Garrett led the inning off with a home run to right field to increase the Sky Hawk lead to 5-2. UTM scored again in the top of the sixth inning after holding Central Connecticut scoreless in the fifth frame. Junior Kate Vanderham's one out RBI single to left field scoring senior Megan VanArsdale who reached on a Blue Devil fielding error increased the Sky Hawk lead to 6-2.
The Blue Devils threatened again in the bottom of the sixth when Sours walked followed by Logan who reached on a fielder's choice that forced out Sours at second base. Logan then advanced to Second and third by a passed ball and a wild pitch by the UTM pitcher junior Chelsea Jones. The Blue Devils were unable to capitalize when Jones was able to out freshman Kelsey Barlow to end the inning.
Central Connecticut's Sophomore Abby Harp retired the Sky Hawk in order in the top of the seventh inning getting two ground outs and a fly ball. The favor was then returned by Sky Hawk pitcher Jones in the bottom of the seventh forcing two Blue Devil ground outs and a strike out to end the game for the Blue Devils, to finish with two runs on four hits and three errors. While UTM finished with six runs on eight hits and two errors.
