Lacrosse Falls In NEC Opener

The Central Connecticut State lacrosse team opened NEC play on Saturday, falling 16-5 to FDU on Arute Field. The Blue Devils fall to 0-7 on the year and 0-1 in NEC play, while the Knights improve to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in league play. 

KEY MOMENTS 

• Nora Codianni scored 51 seconds into the game for the 1-0 FDU lead 

• Amaya Monacelli put a Grace McGann pass into the back of the net 4:34 later to draw the Blue Devils even, 1-1 

• FDU struck twice, in a 67 second span late in the first quarter to take a 3-1 lead after one period of play 

• The Knights scored eight goals in the second period, while the Blue Devils had a goal waved off at the buzzer, to lead 11-1 at intermission 

• Both teams scored once in the third quarter, with Katie Hurlburt netting the Central tally with 2:36 to play 

• After Karly Dillabough scored 11 ticks into the final period, CCSU scored consecutive tallies, with Mikayla Lecci (11:34) scoring a FPG and Makayla Winegar scoring unassisted with 9:33 to play. FDU answered with three unanswered goals to take a 16-4 advantage, before McGann rounded out the scoring with an 8-meter goal with 2:10 to play

• McGann finished with a goal and an assist as well as two draw controls 

• Maeve Tobler finished with 10 saves, four ground balls and a caused turnover  

• Jennifer Socci finished with four draw controls 

• Dillabough scored a game-high five goals
