Monacelli Earns NEC Rookie Of The Week

Freshman had four points, with a hat trick, in collegiate debut

Central Connecticut State rookie lacrosse player Amaya Monacelli was named the NEC Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Monday. She was joined as an NEC Prime Performer by senior Abbey Cannon.

Monacelli wasted little time in making her impact felt at the collegiate level. She recorded a hat trick in the Blue Devils season opener at Iona on Saturday. She finished second on the team with four points, as she also handed out an assist.

Cannon earned Prime Performer with her five-point effort, scoring four times and adding an assist.

The Blue Devils are back in action on Saturday, when they travel to LaSalle for a 2:00 pm contest.
