Swimming Through Two Days Of Gompei Invitational
Blue Devils had three finalists on Saturday
The Central Connecticut State swim team finished the second day of competition at the Gompei Invitational, hosted by WPI. The Blue Devils have accumulated 902.5 points through two of the three days of competition,
The event concludes on Sunday, with prelims at 9:00 am and finals beginning at 5:30 pm. The Blue Devils divers will be in action at the Pace Diving Invitational on Sunday, beginning at 4:00 pm.
200 Freestyle Relay
- The A relay placed 10th, as Lauryn Cowing (25.04), Gabby Spaciano (24.63), Megan Dunnigan (24.87) and Katrine O'Leary (24.50) went 1:39.04
- The squad of Hannah Kretkowski (26.52), Sophie Milhomens (24.95), Grace Young (25.21) and Maggie Rutledge (24.94) placed 17th with a swim of 1:41.62
400 IM
- Gabi Wroblewski finished seventh, with a swim of 4:38.96, dropping nearly a second from her preliminary swim
- Kyla Behrle was 18th in the event, clocking 4:53.80, also nearly a full second under her prelim swim
- Marley Milne sliced 2.7 seconds off her qualifying time to win the C-Final with a swim of 4:54.10
100 Backstroke
- Milhomens (58.56) and O'Leary (58.99) touched eighth and ninth respectively in the championship final
- Dunnigan was 19th in the evening heats, going 1:01.35
50 Butterfly
- Cowing tied for 17th, with a swim of 27.01
- Veronica Okurowski and Behrle tied for 25th, notching identical 27.93 swims Saturday evening
200 Freestyle
- Gabby Spaciano was 16th, going 1:57.63 in the consolation heat
100 Breaststroke
- Young was the team's top finisher, touching 12th with a 1:07.79, 1.16 seconds faster than her qualifying swim
- Okurowski touched 24th, going 1:11.76
400 Medley Relay
- Milhomens (59.23), Young (1:07.01), Cowing (59.57) and O'Leary (53.13) combined to go 3:58.94 in the final event of the night and placed eighth
- Dunnigan (1:00.72), Okurowski (1:10.14), Plowucha (1:03.08), and Spaciano (53.18) finished 15th with a swim of 4:07.12
