Cieslik Makes Paralympic Nationals Debut
Freshman dropped 22 seconds from her seed time in the 400m freestyle on Friday.
Central Connecticut State freshman Amelia Cieslik, earned a berth in the finals in her first appearance at the U.S. Paralympic Swimming National Championships on Friday. She finished second in the S7 category, with a finals time of 6:37.74 in the 400m freestyle, a career-best.
Cieslik, a native of Southington, CT, was seeded with a 7:01.09 entering the meet. In Friday mornings preliminary heat, she shaved 17.72 seconds off of her time to earn her berth in the evening session, qualifying with a swim of 6:43.37.
Cieslik will swim four more events at the three-day national championship at the Rosen Aquatic & Fitness Center in Orlando, FL. On Saturday, she will swim the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle.
