Stewart, Marin Trade Discus Record
Stewart claims school record after Marin claimed it in early rounds
The Central Connecticut women's track and field team opened a two-day stint at the UCONN Northeast Challenge in throws and jumps on Friday.
The day was highlighted by dueling record setting throws in the discus. Maya Marin broke the discus record and then Wenesha Stewart took the top mark right back.
The competition will conclude on Saturday in Storrs, CT, with events on the track, the pits and in the throws area.
- Stewart placed third in the discus, with a throw of 47.66m, reclaiming her school record
- Marin's record throw of 44.82 was good for sixth place
- Marin followed with a personal-best 42.39m throw in the javelin, good for third place
- Lyndsey Gravel was 11th in the javelin, throwing 32.70m
- Payton Lowe threw the discus 39.07m to place 14th and Gravel was 25th with a 29.95m effort
- Erin Egan finished 15th in the long jump, with a 5.18m jump
