Men's Golf Leads After First Day of CCSU Invitational at Wethersfield Country Club

Hughes are tied for the lead with one other player and the
Central Connecticut men's golf team leads by eight strokes after
the first day of the CCSU Invitational at Wethersfield Country Club
on Sunday. Both players shot a day-one one over par 72 to share
the lead with David Renski from Sacred Heart. Round two will take
place on Monday with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m.
Daniel
Morgan shot a 73 to stand one shot off the lead for the Blue
Devils, followed by Eric
Hawerchuk's 77. As a team Central shot 294, and is the lone
team to be below 300 on the par-71 course in Wethersfield. Bryant
shot a 302 to command second place, followed by Sacred Heart and
Laval University with a 305 and the threesome of Manhattan, Holy
Cross and Army at 306. Hofstra is ninth with a 321 and St. Francis
(NY) is 10th with a 331 on the first day.
Several Blue Devils played as individuals on the day, and shot
well. Sam
Pelletier and Kevin O'Connell shot a 75 and are tied for ninth
place with nine other players. Travis
Fifi rounded out the CCSU scoring with a 77 and is in the top
20.
The second round of the tournament will take place on Monday
morning in Wethersfield. Tee times begin at 8:00 a.m.
