The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a team total 304 today to hold onto seventh place at the Connecticut Cup. The event was held at Ellington Ridge Country Club and was hosted by the University of Connecticut. Freshman Daniel Morgan was the top finisher for the Blue Devils tying for 10th place.
After shooting a 79 in the first round Morgan carded back to back 73s to total 225 strokes for the tournament. It was Morgan's second top-10 finish in his first season at Central. Sophomore Dan Fanion was only one stroke behind Morgan as he posted rounds of 78,71, and 77 to tie for 12th. Fanion and Morgan led the Blue Devils who shot a 915 as a team.
Junior Kevin Josephson finished tied for 36th after shooting rounds of 79, 78 and 77. Junior Greg Beloin shot a 235 to tie for 42nd, and senior Justin Hughes tied for 52nd with a 241. Sophomore Ashley Crawford competed as an individual in the match and finished tied for 50th with a 240 stroke performance.
Iona College won the event shooting a 31-over-par 895 for the three rounds. Justin Deitz of Siena College was the individual winner and was the only golfer to finish under-par, he finished at -3.
The Blue Devils Return to action next week at the NEIGA Championships.
