Central Connecticut freshman Makenna Lommori earned her fourth consecutive Molten/Northeast Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week award on Monday afternoon. Lommori shared this week's honor with Allison Butler of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Lommori continued her excellent play with 74 assists over two matches last week. She recorded 33 assists in a three set loss to Robert Morris and followed that with 41 assists in a 3-1 victory over Saint Francis (PA). Over the two matches, she averaged 10.57 assists per set.
She also contributed eight kills on 17 attacks over the two contests. With just two attack errors, Lommori posted a solid .353 hitting percentage for the week.
Defensively, she contributed 10 blocks and 18 digs, which averages to 1.43 blocks and 2.57 digs per set.
Eight of her blocks came in the victory over Saint Francis (PA). In that match the Blue Devils recorded 15 blocks as a team with senior Jamie Rademacher, who had 11 blocks, often teaming up with Lommori.
With her performance over the weekend, Lommori has raised her season total to 552 assists and a 8.49 assist/set average. She also increased her defensive totals to 2.22 digs and .77 blocks/set.
Lommori and the Blue Devils will return to action on Wednesday night at intrastate and NEC rival Sacred Heart. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
