Baseball Closes Series Against Stonehill With Win Sunday
The Central Connecticut State baseball team earned a 16-6 victory in the rubber game of the Northeast Conference series with Stonehill. Antonio Ducatelli singled through the left side to score Chris Brown to provide the Blue Devils a 10-run margin in the seventh inning.
CCSU travels to Syracuse, NY for the final series of the regular season, May &&0&&. The Blue Devils will play three with Le Moyne.

KEY MOMENTS
- Sam Parks led off the game with an infield single, but TJ Winn, Jr. retired the next three batters to keep Stonehill off of the board in the first inning. Winn notch a pair of strikeouts in a 1-2-3 second inning.
- Chris Brown led off the home second with a long homerun to right field, giving the Blue Devils the early 1-0 lead and start a second inning that saw 13 batters come to the plate. Jake Lanzer retired the next batter, before seven consecutive Blue Devils (five singles, a walk and a HBP) reached base to push the lead to 4-0. Eight of nine Blue Devils reached base and scored a run in the frame.
- The second out was not recorded until a sacrifice fly to the wall in right field from Aidan Redahan to score Matt Falk to make the lead 5-0. Brown's second at-bat of the inning was a two-RBI double to left field, making the score 7-0. Gianno Merlonghi added a two-RBI double as well, as CCSU took a 9-0 lead
- Stonehill got a run back, as the first five batters of the third inning reached base, but Winn held the Skyhawks to one run
- Merlonghi lifted another RBI double to right field in the bottom of the fourth, for the 10-1 lead
- Aidan Cohall drove in the Skyhawks second run, in the top of the fifth, plating Parks who was hit by a pitch to start the inning. CCSU made a pitching change with runners on second and third and induced a flyout to limit the damage to one run, and leave the score 10-2 in favor of CCSU
- Parks lined a single down the right field line, with the bases loaded in the sixth, scoring a pair of Skyhawks to make it 10-4, and two batters later Cohall singled to center to score LeClair. Brock Pare induced a 6-4-3 double play, that plated a run, but was followed by a fly out to end the inning with CCSU leading 10-6
- Ducatalli worked a bases loaded walk in the bottom half of the sixth and Matt Falk, with two outs, dropped a single in front of the right fielder to clear the bases and make the score 14-6
- In the seventh, the Blue Devils got a run on a throwing error, setting up Ducatelli's walk-off single to drive in the final run
NOTES
- Pare threw the final 2.0 innings of the game, didn't allow a hit and struck out one to earn the victory
- Merlonghi went 4-for-5, including a pair of doubles
- Every Blue Devil that started in the field scored at least one run, led by Brown's four runs scored
- Ducatelli now has two walk-off hits this season (vs. Fairfield, March 18)
- Winn started and threw 4.2 innings, fanning two and allowing two runs on five hits
- Seven Blue Devils had at least one RBI, with Falk (4), Merlonghi (3) and Brown (3) combining for 10 of the 15 RBIs on the day
- Stonehill used seven pitchers on the afternoon, allowing 13 hits, walked eight and hit two batters
- The Blue Devils have scored 10+ runs in 20 games this season.
