Central Connecticut freshman Arielle Bruno was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The Blue Devil outfielder currently leads her team in batting average with a .379 mark for the season. This past week she recorded eight hits as the Blue Devils went 4-1-1.
Bruno started off her week with a huge game in the night cap of the Blue Devils doubleheader against Coppin State. Bruno went three-for-four in with five RBIs and three runs scored as the Blue Devils rolled Coppin State 24-3.
From there the Blue Devils moved on to the Hampton Lady Pirate Classic where they wen 3-0-1 over two days of action. Bruno continued to hit finishing the week with eight hits in 19 at bats, she doubled twice, tripled and hit her first collegiate homerun. She drove in six runs and scored six runs, but also showed some speed by stealing three bases.
Bruno and the Blue Devils will return to action on Thursday night against the Dutch National Team, the game will be played at the University of South Florida.
