The Central Connecticut softball team will play #4 seed LIU Brooklyn at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in Moon Township, PA for its second game of the NEC Tournament. After winning game one on Thursday against Monmouth, marking the first win in an NEC Tournament in CCSU history, the Blue Devils enter the winners bracket. Thursday's win also marked Head Coach Jeff Franquet's 300th win as the coach of an NCAA team.
A win over the Blackhawks on Friday would mean an automatic advancement to the championship game on Saturday for Central.
This season, the Blue Devils traveled to Brooklyn, NY to play the Blackbirds where they earned both wins in the doubleheader by scores of 9-1 and 5-0. Game one was decided in six innings and marked the second win in 10 seasons against LIU Brooklyn.
Central is 3-5 over the defending NEC Champions in Franquet's tenure at CCSU. The Blue Devils are 3-17 against the Blackbirds since 2004.
